NCAA Basketball: Most likely options for Boogie Ellis after leaving Duke
By Josh Stevens
Rejean “Boogie” Ellis had committed to Duke all the way back in November. He has since been released from his NCAA Basketball LOI where does he go from here?
Boogie Ellis is an absolute stud, hence why he has an offer from Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils. He has been released from his NCAA Basketball letter of intent at his own discretion. This might be due to the recent news that fellow Californian Cassius Stanley has also committed to the Blue Devils making it very difficult to find minutes for Ellis. With Tre Jones also returning the starting 5 for Coach K is all but set, and without Boogie Ellis he figured he should reopen his options.
Before he committed he was also considering Memphis, North Carolina, USC, and San Diego State. It feels like Memphis is in on every remaining recruit, and they might have a good chance with most. He’s also a kid from San Diego, which could bode well for the Aztecs, or just go and join the No. 5 recruiting class according to 247sports at USC.
Ellis is ranked as the number 34 recruit and the number 6 combo guard according to 247sports. He should not have any issue finding solid playing time at any of the remaining schools aside from possibly North Carolina. This might be the best choice Boogie could have made for the future of his career. As good of a coach that Coach K is it is hard to put on a show when you only get 10-15 minutes a game. I am only going to talk about Memphis and USC as possible options however as those are the only schools I believe to still be in the running.
