Roster Overview

At this point in the offseason it is hard to determine what a roster is going to look like when everything gets tipped off in November. Last seasons starting guard Thomas Allen has transferred to North Carolina State to play for Kevin Keatts. Reserve guard Nana Akenten has entered his name into the transfer portal. Big man Isaiah Roby has entered the NBA draft, with an agent, and has been invited to the NBA combine. Those signs point to the junior big man not returning.

Even in the short time that this coaching staff have been on the job in the Lincoln, they have helped turn the roster around significantly. The players left over from Miles who are starting with the new staff are Junior Thorir Thorbjarnarson, Sophomores Amir Harris and Brady Heiman, and walk on Justin Costello. Those are the only four players who saw the floor last year, and the speculation is that these players may not end up on the roster when the season starts in November. Since those players are still on the roster, they will be included as active members of the roster, until a transfer is announced. Redshirt junior Dachon Burke sat out his transfer year, and redshirt freshman Karrington Davis are the remainder of the returners from a season ago.

The new coaching staff was able to maintain the commitments of two of the three in the incoming 2019 class. Those players are wing Akol Arop and junior college star Jervay Green. Green was the player who was going to be a key cog in the new Hoiberg offense and was a must to be retained. With these players on board Hoiberg could work on filling out the rest of the class to field a competitive roster for next season and the years to come.
