A perennial contender, Kentucky Basketball goes and gets the best of the best on the recruiting trail. Who will they add heading into 2019-20?

Ah, the college basketball immediate offseason. Weirdly, an exciting time in the sport. With the sheer totality of player movement during this age of college basketball, from the time the confetti serenades the national champion, until the end of May, there’s a bonanza of content. Rosters evolve and the turnover from year to year is substantial.

There’s a bevy of gifted grad-transfers seeking national shine, pro prospects dipping their feet in the water and deciding whether to stay or go; and, of course, the recruiting cycle–which never stops–features schools scrambling to add elite talent in the second signing period. My Kentucky Wildcats are wholly immersed in the deep happenings of offseason roster photosynthesis. While Kentucky Basketball’s 2020 team is far from set in stone, here are some additions (or subtractions) Wildcat fans should be on the lookout for.

Johnny Juzang

The 6’7 wing recently reclassified from 2020 to 2019 and Kentucky is on him like white on rice. Juzang already took an official visit and rumblings from Calipari’s camp is that things went extremely well. Johnny enjoyed the gorgeous Kentucky campus and felt from a basketball perspective that Kentucky was a near-perfect fit. I’m ecstatic he feels in such a way, but I’m intrigued as to why.

As of now, UK already has 6-7 5-stars Kahlil Whitney and Keion Brooks in addition to 6-6 4-star Dontaie Allen signed in the 2019 class. The thirst for wings has seemingly already been quenched. Nonetheless, Juzang would be a welcome addition and that 43% three-point stroke will be much appreciated. Perhaps he could fill some minutes at shooting guard or Whitney and Brooks will play power forward a bit. Who knows. Calipari will have things figured out I’m sure.

Either way, I believe Johnny Juzang (an A+ name, by the way) will be a Kentucky Wildcat. In fact, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t announce his intentions within, oh, maybe the next week or so. Stay tuned. And Cats fans, check out his highlight tape below. Kid can SHOOT.
