Carsen Edwards: Arya Stark

Carsen Edwards was counted out this season. Purdue was predicted by many to be an early exit in the NCAA Tournament. When you thought of teams with Elite Eight chances, you just didn’t put Purdue in the mix, despite being a 3-seed.

However, Carsen Edwards never let the doubters get in his way. He scored 26 points or more in every NCAA Tournament game this year, including two games of 42 points. In a year deprived of Cinderella stories, he was a true hero. When his team needed him most, he shined.

When framed like that, the Arya Stark comparison becomes obvious. Growing up as a girl, no one wanted her to fight. She wasn’t looked at as a potential warrior. She travelled from place to place in secret. She’s one of the underdogs of Game of Thrones. When it counted most, however, she was able to get the job done.

Fletcher Magee: Jaqen H’ghar

Some might forget who Fletcher Magee is, but his name is etched in the college basketball record books. The Wofford guard finished college with 509 total made three-pointers. That’s the most for a career in NCAA history. From behind the arch, Fletcher Magee is an assassin.

To help bridge the gap, Jaqen H’ghar is a literal assassin. He’s also a faceless man, which totally fits the bill for Fletcher Magee. Most fans couldn’t choose his picture out of a lineup. If he goes to the NBA Draft, he might be able to walk through New York City without being recognized.

Again, this isn’t a comparisons list for just the best draft prospects. Fletcher Magee is far from a lottery prospect in this draft. However, it’s a good fit to me.
