Kyle Guy – Virginia

Draft Status:

Guy has confirmed that he will stay in the draft and is not returning for his senior season.

Draft projection: Undrafted

After going through mocks, it currently doesn’t seem like Guy will be drafted, although he would surely end up on a Summer League roster regardless.

Role Player Projection:

Strengths: At 43%, Guy was one of the best three-point shooters in college basketball this past season. He played off-the-ball the majority of the time, and his role would be similar at the next level. The NBA continues to value shooting more and more, and Guy’s ability to run off screens will help generate his long-range attempts.  Although not a spectacular athlete, Guy’s experience in the Tony Bennet school of defense will likely have him performing above his athletic ability on the defensive end.

Weaknesses: Guy’s limited size at 6’2 might make it difficult to get his shot off at times, and in particular hard for him on defense. Before jumping too far into JJ Redick and Kyle Korver comparisons, one should remember that the two are 6-4 and 6-7 respectively. This has helped the shooters battle as defensive players. Additionally, Guy’s offensive production is extremely reliant on his shot, as he doesn’t have a whole lot to offer as a ball-handler/playmaker.
