2. Phoenix Suns (14% chance of landing No. 1 pick)

The Suns have a good chance at getting back-to-back No. 1 overall selections, potentially pairing Williamson with Deandre Ayton. He had a good rookie season (16.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg) to end the bad stretch of frontcourt draft picks in recent seasons. Maybe it took going a combined 40-124 in the past two years to fix that.

There’s also a big financial impact for Phoenix with a pending decision of Kelly Oubre Jr. The forward played great since getting traded to the Suns, going for 16.9 ppg. He could be asking for huge money this offseason but the front office won’t have to do that if they can get Williamson.

The roster would look pretty good for brand new coach Monty Williams, with Williamson and Ayton down low and 27 ppg scorer Devin Booker up front. There are some good rotation players to work with, including Tyler Johnson, Mikal Bridges, and TJ Warren.

But the biggest benefit of the Suns getting Williamson is that they all of a sudden become more attractive to land a true point guard this offseason. It’s possible that they could get Kemba Walker or reunite with Goran Dragic. Even in a difficult western conference, this franchise (with Williamson) would have the pieces to make a rise similar to the Denver Nuggets. At the very least, they would become one of the more exciting teams to watch in the NBA in the future.
