Recruiting is the most important aspect of developing a strong NCAA basketball program. That much is evident in how the recruiting successes of Duke and Kentucky have translated to victories on the court. Not every program can consistently land elite-level recruiting classes, though, and that is why focusing on the potentially influential groups of newcomers to specific programs is important.
In addition to simply impacting their respective programs in the near future, these influential classes could also represent a shift in recruiting patterns for that school. This is sometimes by virtue of a coaching change resulting in better success with high school talents or the momentum that a program garners by landing a top-tier class.
