1. Jon Scheyer – Duke

There’s no denying that Mike Krzyzewski has done legendary work at Duke and Scheyer is just another one of his talented young assistants that is destined for bright things in the future. The list of former Duke assistants includes Mike Brey, Chris Collins, Johnny Dawkins, Steve Wojciechowski, and Jeff Capel, all who currently hold jobs in the top seven conferences. Scheyer starred at Duke and was part of 2010’s national championship title, returning to Duke a few years later to begin his coaching career.

After Capel’s departure last season, Scheyer was promoted to associate head coach. His role in shaping this program has only grown. He was partially responsible for landing numerous top recruits, including Jayson Tatum, Cam Reddish and Zion Williamson. In addition to his success on the recruiting trail, he’s been monumental in developing this young talent. He worked hard with Tyus Jones, molding him and the rest of Duke’s 2015 team into national champions. Luke Kennard, Grayson Allen and many other guards have seen their careers positive shaped by Scheyer’s presence.

Scheyer is someone who is going to start being mentioned for most high-profile head coaching jobs, a trend among former Duke coaches as we’ve already examined. He’s establishing himself, even at a young age, and the sky’s the limit for what Scheyer can accomplish. The only thing potentially holding him back could be the potential of succeeding Krzyzewski at Duke, though the Blue Devils may choose to hire someone with more experience than him.
