Tomas Woldetensae – Indian Hills C.C.

SG | 6-foot-5 | 195 lbs | Unranked

Virginia is not typically a program that dives into the JUCO ranks for transfers, but there might not be a better possible fit than Tomas Woldetensae. The Cavaliers have been extremely successful over the past few years behind elite perimeter shooting and sound defensive fundamentals in their pack-line system. Woldetensae fits this tremendously well with his solid 6-foot-5 frame and tremendous 3-point consistency.

A first-team NJCAA All-American at the JUCO level, Woldetensae can absolutely light it up from beyond the arc. Over the course of this past season, he posted superb averages of 17.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while burying trifectas at a 47.6% rate. Of course, he will not be able to replicate that level of scoring production in the ACC but his 3-point proficiency is obvious and translatable.

He is an extremely smooth lefty both off the dribble and catch-and-shoot situations. Woldetensae also boasts a solid handle and some creativity around the hoop as he is more than just a one-dimensional threat. His size at the shooting guard position should fit nicely in the Virginia system and he will be valuable piece as an off-ball scorer next to Kihei Clark.

Woldetensae will be a junior this season and therefore has two years of eligibility remaining.
