NBA Draft 2019: Top 25 undrafted players since 2000
Langston Galloway was a four-year contributor at St. Joe’s as an effective scorer, averaging 15 points per game in his college career. He put up nearly 18 points per game, while making 43 percent from 3-point range on over seven attempts a night. But being an undersized shooting guard at 6-foot-2 caused him to get undrafted, before the New York Knicks picked him up in 2014.
Galloway almost never got the chance to prove himself, getting waived and re-signed multiple times with the Knicks before getting playing time due to injuries. He made the most of it, averaging 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game as a starter that included 26 points on 6-of-6 from deep in a late-season win over the Atlanta Hawks. Galloway was named on the 2015 All-NBA Rookie Second Team.
He’s become a legit bench option in the NBA, regardless of which team Galloway has been on, scoring at least 6.2 points per game and shooting the 3-pointer at a very high clip. The problem he’s had has been the efficiency, shooting under 40 percent from the field his entire career.
As a spot-up shooter, Galloway is an effective asset, but he’ll need a quality point guard to set him up for success. Between his stops with the Sacramento Kings and now with the Detroit Pistons, that’s been an issue for him.
Galloway signed a $21 million deal with the Pistons and averaged 7.8 points per game in the recent playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s come a long way since hanging by a thread with the Knicks to start his NBA career.
Career stats (339 games): 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists per game
