14) Oscar Tshiebwe, C, West Virginia

West Virginia was unable to fill the Sagaba Konate-sized hole in their lineup when he missed virtually all of last season. Konate is now headed to the NBA Draft, but the Mountaineers have someone who may be able to replace him in Oscar Tshiebwe.

At 6-9 and 250 pounds, Tshiebwe looks to be a perfect fit for Bob Huggins. He plays with a relentless motor and is a phenomenal rebounder. The McDonald’s All-American is not the shot-blocker Konate was (who is, right?) but still projects to be an elite defender given his effort, strength, and ability to effectively switch onto perimeter players.

The offensive part of Tshiebwe’s game is still extremely raw. He doesn’t have great touch and has no reliable post moves. However, his effort, rebounding, and athleticism still allow him to have an impact on that end. He’s a good dunker and often gets easy baskets by beating his defender to important spots on the floor.

The Mountaineers need to improve in a lot of areas this offseason if they’re going to return to being an NCAA Tournament caliber-team, but Tshiebwe will undoubtedly help in a big way. He’s limited, sure, but expect him to flourish in Huggins’ system.
