7) Scottie Lewis, SG/SF, Florida

Lewis has been well-known in recruiting circles ever since he was dubbed a middle school prodigy, and he’ll play a monster role for the Gators right away.

Florida is losing a ton of production with senior starting wings KeVaughn Allen and Jalen Hudson both leaving. Neither fulfilled the star expectations that were placed on them during their time in Gainesville – now Lewis is tasked with being the superstar wing that will elevate Florida back to among the SEC’s elite teams.

He’s a prototypical wing at 6-6 and 185 pounds and has the rarest kind of quick-twitch athleticism that automatically makes him stand out on the court. Lewis might have the highest motor in this class, too – it’ll be hard to find someone who plays harder than he does next season.

Those traits help make Lewis an elite defender. His quickness and long arms give him the ability to shut opponents down and create turnovers. On the offensive end, Lewis still is not a reliable outside shooter. He is, however, good in transition and a really good passer.

Lewis and returning starter Andrew Nembhard (fresh off a stellar freshman season) will give the Gators one of the best and most versatile backcourts in the entire country. But Lewis will give them a new dimension Allen and Hudson didn’t, and that should help Florida win more than 21 games for just the second time since 2014.
