Reid’s draft stock: Down

Before the NBA draft combine, the consensus on Reid seemed to be that of a late first rounder. This was mainly due to his lack of athleticism that would likely be exposed at the next level and combine that with his poor showing and shape at the combine, it is even more likely that Reid will have to wait until the second round to hear his name called.

One team I have seen as a landing spot for Reid is the New Orleans Pelicans at No. 39. Obviously, it is tough to gauge what the Pelicans are going to do given the uncertainty of Anthony Davis, but the New Orleans forward rotation is wrought with marginal role players and would be a spot where Reid could compete for minutes at that position.

If Reid does fall to the 2nd round that means his contract is not guaranteed and the odds will be against him, so he will have to dedicate himself to getting in shape and improving the areas of his game that need work if he wants an NBA career. The foundation is there for a solid player, it’s just a question of if he wants to put in the work to build up that foundation.
