Indiana Basketball: 2019 NBA Draft Profile for guard Romeo Langford
By Cody Larson
Weaknesses
No matter how great Langford may be at scoring inside, the lack of a threatening jump shot from deep will have a severe impact on his offensive success. His 27.2 percent success rate from three will allow teams to fade heavily inside when guarding him on the perimeter.
This will negatively impact his ability to drive in the half-court, which is already an issue in of itself. Off of his first step or even off of a pick, Langford would commonly get stalled on his way to the basket at the college level.
Because of his lack of a jumper, Langford would create a momentary offensive black hole for his team. This might become even more frequent at the NBA level due to less designed plays and more skilled defenders.
On the bright side; Langford shot a surprising 64.7 percent on assisted 3-point buckets last season, hinting at some catch-and-shoot potential (which, therefore, could open up his driving game when attacking closeouts).
He also shot a decent 72.2 percent from the foul line, and does have a clean-looking step back jumper in his arsenal. All signs point to Langford being an effective 3-point shooter, but the results just beg to differ up to this point.
