NBA Draft 2019: 10 most intriguing undrafted free agent prospects
By Sam Jarrett
The NBA Draft may be over, but there remains a large pool of undrafted prospects for teams to choose from. Which of these players are the most intriguing?
On June 23rd, 2016, an undersized four-year guard out of Wichita State waited out all 60 picks in the NBA Draft without hearing his name called. He was promptly signed by the Toronto Raptors, and three years later, he played a vital role in bringing Canada its first NBA championship.
The aforementioned player is Fred VanVleet, who averaged 14 points per game in this year’s NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, including a 22-point outing in the last game of the series. He hit 16 three-pointers over six games, including a game-sealing shot from deep in Game 3 that put Toronto up 2-1. VanVleet will serve as a beacon of hope for undrafted players for years to come.
He along with players like Ben Wallace, Wesley Matthews, Bruce Bowen, and many others are living proof that going undrafted isn’t the be-all and end-all. The 2019 NBA Draft is in the rearview mirror, but this year’s undrafted class is the strongest in recent memory, and there are a significant number of players left who I believe can make a legitimate impact for an NBA team.
With that said, here’s a list of the 10 undrafted prospects who are the most intriguing.
