NBA Draft 2019: 10 most intriguing undrafted free agent prospects

Jalen Lecque, G, High School
Signed a four-year deal (two years guaranteed) with the Phoenix Suns
The Suns have been deemed the losers of draft night by many people after selecting Cam Johnson 11th overall and trading TJ Warren for nothing. They did, however, pick up an intriguing undrafted prospect in Jalen Lecque, who elected to skip college after taking a fifth year in high school.
In terms of athleticism, it doesn’t get much better than Lecque, who stands 6’4. He posted the highest vertical leap at the NBA Combine, and he’ll instantly be one of the more athletic guards that the NBA has to offer – which is saying a lot, considering how many freak athletes there are at the guard position.
He proved during the Combine scrimmages that his athleticism was functional and that he could use it to his advantage on a basketball court. He also flashed a lot of ability as a passer, which means that there’s a very solid foundation to build on. One area that Lecque struggles in is shooting. On the AAU circuit this past season, he made just three of his 26 three-point attempts over 10 games. His jumper did look refined during pre-draft workouts, however, which is an encouraging sign for his shooting development.
Lecque is extremely raw and will likely have to spend a year or two in the G-League, but that’s to be expected of someone who didn’t play college basketball. He has a very high ceiling and could make a long-term impact on a Phoenix team that has spent a lengthy amount of time searching for a point guard.
