The NBA Draft has been completed. So now it’s time to focus back on NCAA Basketball. And while it’s in the middle of the offseason, there are still some newsworthy situations going on. The biggest being Kerry Blackshear Jr., arguably the top graduate transfer this offseason.
He left Virginia Tech after head coach Buzz Williams left for the Texas A&M coaching position and entered the transfer portal. The 6’10 forward, coming off a season where he averaged 14.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 2.4 apg, became one of the most coveted transfers. And after withdrawing from the NBA Draft, a host of SEC schools came calling.
While many showed interest, there were a few teams who Blackshear was interested in most, recently taking visits to both Kentucky and Tennessee. But the connections he has to both the Hokies and now the Aggies keeps them in the running as well. There aren’t any other players available for the 2019-20 season so whoever gets the big man will get a massive roster upgrade.
It’s a big decision for Blackshear, who has just one season left in college to get in a position to get drafted to the NBA.
