Although Butler basketball returns the majority of its rotation, there are four newcomers that will play their first minutes with the program in 2019-20.

Butler basketball has been one of the most consistent programs in the nation over the past several seasons. With that said, though, the Bulldogs missed the NCAA Tournament during this past campaign and they will be looking to get back on track heading into 2019-20. Thankfully, the program is returning its fair share of developing talent alongside star senior guard Kamar Baldwin. Also, this will be Year 3 under the same coaching staff and it is reasonable to assume an overall improvement both on the court and on the sidelines.

This is, of course, largely due to the returning talent on the roster but there are also four newcomers poised to potentially take on roles right away. Even though the Bulldogs lost their big man platoon of Nate Fowler and Joey Brunk this offseason, the coaching staff has filled those holes in the rotation while also adding a potential star in the backcourt. This group of newcomers might not rank extremely high on a national scale, but each player fits either a present or future need of the program.

Looking ahead to this coming season, it seems extremely likely that at least three of these newcomers will play major minutes (possibly even start). So, having said that, let’s dive into analyzing each newcomer’s game and determining what they might bring to the table for the program right away. Will this group be what takes the Bulldogs to the next level and back to the NCAA Tournament? Possibly.
