Georgia basketball has not been successful in recent years. As a result of Coach Crean’s recruiting successes, though, the Bulldogs could be rising.

Georgia basketball needs a resurgence. Having reached the NCAA Tournament only three times in the last 17 years, all as a double-digit seed, the program is in a tough place. Oh, and the Bulldogs are also coming off arguably their worst season of the century as they finished just 11-21 (2-16 SEC). This was clearly a very disappointing campaign for the program, but the future looks bright now that head coach Tom Crean has been able to snag his first complete recruiting class for the program.

Headlined the No. 2 overall player in the class, as well as four other top-100 prospects, this recruiting class is absolutely tremendous. Coach Crean was able to secure six total commits and it seems as though this could be the start of something special in Athens. This class is ranked at No. 9 overall in the land and the group could impact the program for many years to come. This is due to the fact that only one of the commits projects as a one-and-done; several of these players will remain with the program and develop for the next few years.

Georgia is not returning a ton of talent from this past season and that will open the door for many of these freshmen to be immediately impactful. What might they all bring to the table and how can they improve the present and future of the program? Coach Crean has a young group to work with but the ceiling is high.
