Anthony Edwards – Atlanta, GA

SG | 6-foot-5 | 215 lbs | No. 2 overall

Superstar alert. Ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in this class, Anthony Edwards has the potential to be the best player in all of college basketball during this next season. While NBA potential is not always indicative of who the best college players will be, it is hard to overlook the fact that many experts have already pegged Edwards as the favorite to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft next summer. He is clearly an elite player and he will be the on-the-court leader for the Bulldogs as a freshman during this coming campaign.

As a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, he brings plenty of size to the table and is an elite athlete with the ability to score at all three levels. He is a superb ball handler for his size and does a great job creating for himself in a number of ways. He can lure defenders into mistakes before attacking the basket, can stroke it from 3-point range, and even makes high-level passes with consistency. He is not the most polished defender, but his offensive game is extremely advanced as he has shown the makings of a college and professional star in the near future.

Looking ahead to this coming season, Edwards is a lock to be a starter from Day 1. He is so incredibly talented, and it is impossible to overlook the impact that he could have on the program. It seems extremely likely that he will only spend one year in Athens, but it could be a special one. He is uniquely talented and Coach Crean did an incredible job securing his commitment. Edwards will be worth watching multiple times this year, even if the Bulldogs struggle as a result of their youth.
