Cincinnati Basketball: Breaking down the 2019 recruiting class
Mika Adams-Woods – New Hampton, NH
CG | 6-foot-3 | 175 lbs | No. 238 overall
Although ranked outside of the top-200, Mika Adams-Woods is an extremely enticing prospect to me. He might never show true “star power” at the college level but he is already polished as a backcourt option and should be a solid playmaker and scorer throughout his career with Cincinnati. He can score at all three levels, exhibits above-average court vision, and can be a harassing defender with the ability to shut down either backcourt slot. He should be a four-year player with the program and it wouldn’t shock me if he became a full-time rock-solid starter for the majority of his career.
Adams-Woods has very few true weaknesses in his game as he does just about everything well, albeit not at an elite level. If he is able to improve as a perimeter shooter and/or shot creator, that might be where he takes the next step with his potential. With this coming season to learn behind a couple of senior guards while playing in a reserve role, he could refine his game even further before taking on a significant spot in the rotation in the near future.
While playing for City Rocks (NY) on the EYBL circuit last season, Adams-Woods posted solid numbers. He might not have been spectacular but he averaged an efficient 8.0 points (.467/.386/.875), 2.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game across 22 contests. He is simply very consistent as a floor general and should be a vocal leader for the Bearcats in the future.
