By Joey Loose
We’re already three months removed Virginia’s exciting run to the national championship. Let’s take a look back and rank every single NCAA Basketball game from the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
It’s already been three months since the exciting championship game between Virginia and Texas Tech, which marked the end of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. This year’s Tournament was full of excitement and intrigue, including one of the most exciting Elite Eights in recent memory. As these NCAA Basketball programs rebuild and reload their rosters for the future, we still sit four months away from the start of next season. What better time than now to reflect on last year’s slate of Tourney games?
As per usual, 68 teams met up, with only one team left standing at the very end. Each round of the Tournament was full of intrigue and there were plenty of upsets, even if it wasn’t as crazy as last season. We saw teams like Murray State, Liberty, and UC Irvine shine on the big stage, while teams like Oregon were really playing their best basketball at the right time of the year. There was a ton of excitement, especially with two brand new Final Four teams, but not every game was equally interesting.
We’re going to attempt to rank every single NCAA Tournament game from 67 to 1. There are a number of factors that comprise these rankings, though there’s no concrete system. Games in later rounds tend to rank higher than early round games, but a blowout in the Sweet Sixteen would not be higher than an intense First Four matchup. The level of excitement in the game is important, and there were certainly a ton of crazy games in this year’s Tournament.
Without further ado, let’s start running through the list.
