Maryland Basketball may have found their replacement for Bruno Fernando, as they continue to build their young corps for the 2019-20 season.

Maryland Basketball has made the NCAA Tournament in four out of five seasons since it joined the Big Ten conference in 2014. The Terps appear poised for another tournament appearance in the 2019-20 college basketball season, as the only key contributor they lost from last year’s squad was Bruno Fernando, who is now in the NBA.

Maryland finished with a 23-11 record a season ago, good for fifth in the conference. Mark Turgeon is looking to build on their successes last season and hopefully take them to the next level. As stated earlier, the team returns a good portion of it core. The Terps are spearheaded by point guard Anthony Cowan, who led the team in scoring last year win 15.6 points per game. They will return their other three starters — Darryl Morsell, Jalen Smith and Eric Ayala, as well. Also coming back, is guard Aaron Wiggins who was a solid producer off the bench.

The Terps coaching staff’s focus heading into recruiting season was definitely to go out and find some big men and add depth across the board. Considering the pressure that comes with competing in the Big Ten, it is vital that programs are able to land big-time recruits. Let’s see how Maryland did on the recruiting trail heading into the new season.
