NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Standout performers at 2019 Peach Jam
Langston Love – Houston Hoops
SG | 6-foot-4 | 190 lbs | No. 22 overall
Houston Hoops navigated its way out of pool play and it was largely thanks to Langston Love. One of the top scorers of the week, Langston Love showcased his abilities from all over the court. Ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the class, Love lived up to that billing with some big-time performances. Although he was not particularly consistent from beyond the arc, he shot over 50% from the field at the event en route to averaging 23.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He was among the top overall scorers at the event and that deserves to be commended, especially when you consider that he did so relatively efficiently.
As one of the top players from Texas, it should come as no surprise that some of the top players in his recruitment seem to be from Big 12 schools. He has already received scholarship offers from programs such as Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, among others. After performing at a high level at Peach Jam, it seems likely that he will emerge as a top priority for a few of those schools over the next few months. He was already a highly-ranked player but solidified his spot with these performers.
As a player, Love is a stocky shooting guard who attacks the basket with strength and determination. He is extremely well-built and understands how to get into the lane and use his strength to finish through traffic. In addition, he is a hard-nosed perimeter defender that should excel on both ends of the floor at the college level. Love is going to be highly sought-after for good reasons.
