Penn State Basketball gets off to a good start in the 2020 recruiting class with the pickup of Dallion Johnson.

Dallion Johnson, a 6’2″, 170-lb prospect from Andover, Massachusetts, has been given a current composite score of .8898 from 247Sports. 247Sports also ranks him as the 153rd best recruit in the nation. The newest Penn State Basketball commit already scored over 1,000 career points for Phillips Academy before his senior campaign. Last season at Phillips, Johnson averaged 20.2 points per game last season, including over three triples per game.

Johnson is a stellar combo guard that’s versatility offensively has earned him a lot of interest, including multiple high major schools. Arguably his biggest strength is his shooting. Johnson is a lights out shooter from beyond the arch. He’s consistent when catching and shooting, but he also possesses a very nice pull-up jumper off the dribble. He has a surprisingly strong body for his measurements, which combined with his quick first step and agility, makes it very difficult to stop him when attacking the rim.

Phillips Academy head coach Terrell Ivory had this to say about Johnson: “He’s very composed, smooth, he can get his shot off from anywhere and he has an excellent basketball IQ.”

Johnson is a professional bucket getter. He scores on all levels, and makes it look easy while doing it. Penn State desperately needs a guy who can come in and make a strong impact on the offensive side of the floor. When Johnson will be coming in, Lamar Stevens and Mike Watkins will both be leaving the program.

Now Penn State has a big time future piece that they can build off of. Johnson is already college-ready, so in another year should be a bit more filled out, and hopefully a bit more polished on the defensive end of the floor. Either way, he’s a great recruit for Pat Chambers to kick-off the 2020 recruiting class with.
