Highly-touted 2020 recruit Cam’Ron Fletcher has cut his list to five. Which NCAA basketball programs are still in the running and how would he fit on each?

Recruiting is heating up around the nation. With the new basketball season just around the corner in a few months, programs are anxious to move ahead of the game with some early commitments from top players in the 2020 class. While there are some recruitments that will last until the late signing period next year, some of the top recruits have already gone about making their commitments or cutting their lists. Among these is highly-touted four-star wing Cam’Ron Fletcher, who recently announced his top five schools. Of course, it is still possible that these teams change or a program is added, but these programs look to be in solid shape to land his commitment at this point in time.

The top programs for Fletcher include Alabama, North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan State, and Kentucky. This is an elite group of programs full of top-tier recruiters. In addition, there does not seem to be a clear favorite in the recruitment at this point in time; there is no heavy leader in Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports, either. Ranked as the No. 36 overall prospect in the class at a 6-foot-6 wing, Fletcher is the type of player that has the potential to be a major impact player right away at the college level.

From a scouting perspective, “versatility” is the name of the game for Fletcher. He is extremely diverse in the ways that he can score and defend. He can be a solid jump shooter out to 3-point range, can attack the basket off the bounce, and is an underrated passer. On the defensive end of the floor, he is relatively switchable and uses his length and athleticism to be quite disruptive. Fletcher is already a solid two-way threat but should only continue to improve as he can refine many of his skills.

Across 14 statistically recorded games on the EYBL circuit this summer, Fletcher posted averages of 12.3 points (.438/.288/.556), 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He played for Brad Beal Elite (MO). Following his performances on the circuit, Fletcher announced his top five schools and now there is plenty of speculation that will follow. So, let’s join in on that conversation by analyzing each of the programs that seem to be in the favored group at this point.
