William & Mary has yet to make the NCAA Tournament and has a less than appealing roster for 2019-20. Despite that, the Tribe still have one of the best centers in the entire country in Nathan Knight.

This was supposed to be the season for William & Mary Basketball. They were picked by many to break the curse and make the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. As one of the illustrious 43 schools who have never made the tournament the Tribe and their fans are looking for anything to grab onto for hope. With the returning roster and one of the best big men in the mid major ranks the Tribe fans were ready for the season to start.

Other than the obvious downfall of never making the tournament, the other downfall is an athletic department that tends to make quick decisions in the heat of the moment. That is what happened last season, three days after the final game the Tribe decided to relive former head coach Tony Shaver of his duties. Shaver was the winningest coach in the Tribes uninspiring history. While he was never able to get them to the promised land neither has any other coach in the program history.

As a result of the firing the once great returning roster was decimated. The star players were transferring, and star big man Nathan Knight put his name into the NBA draft and seemed unlikely to return. Knight did return to the Tribe and is ready to play his senior season. The Tribe are going to have a much different roster and the expectations have certainly changed. The star forward is going to help build the new roster and with a wide open Colonial Athletic Association can he lead his team to a top half finish?
