Big East basketball is poised for a strong season. What questions are facing each team in the conference as the 2019-20 campaign approaches?

Big East basketball struggled during this past season. Even though a couple of programs made some mid-season runs to near the top of the national rankings, it was a down season for the league on the whole. With that said, the majority of the star power in the conference is returning for 2019-20. As a result, many are expecting a resurgence from the Big East. On paper, it seems as though the vast majority of the league will be competing for an NCAA Tournament bid this season. Even though many of the programs are expected to take steps forward this year, there are questions facing each and every one.

Considering how intensely competitive the league is going to be this season, the final standings might depend on how each program answers its most important offseason question. Although we are still a few months away from the season actually beginning, this is the time for each school to work on shoring up their rotational question marks. For the most part, this will come via internal development but some programs are in need of immediate contributions from highly-rated freshmen to soar up the rankings.

At this point in time, it seems as though Villanova and Seton Hall are clearly a step ahead of everyone else in preseason rankings. After those two, though, each program can make a legitimate argument for possibly finishing in the top half of the conference. Even though there might be some distinct preseason tiers in the league, it wouldn’t be a shock to see a team or two vastly exceed their expectations. Each team has the pieces needed to be successful but they all have some questions.

So, without any further ado, let’s dive into each team in the Big East (in alphabetical order) and discuss what they need to shore up in the coming months.
