G Finn Sullivan – San Diego Toreros

I think it’s safe to say no team lost a higher percentage of their production from last season than San Diego. Forward Isaiah Pineiro and guards Olin Carter, Isaiah Wright and Tyler Williams were the Torero’s four leading scorers, and they all graduated. They averaged 55.6 points between the four of them, which was just under 70% of San Diego’s total points last year. Yikes.

That means someone, or multiple someones, will need to step up for the Torero’s to stay relevant in the WCC.

One name to keep an eye on is rising sophomore Finn Sullivan. Sullivan played in 32 games as a freshman, starting one and averaging 16.4 minutes per game.

His production wasn’t great (4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds. 0.4 assists) although he did shoot 33% from downtown and 83% from the line, signs that an increased role could lead to a nice scorer for San Diego.

In fact, Sullivan showed up in a big way for the Toreros against BYU in the WCC tournament, scoring 17 points on 5-8 shooting (2-3 downtown) en route to an upset victory.

San Diego won’t be as good next year, but Sullivan is a player to watch for this squad during the 19/20 season.
