Butler basketball missed the Big Dance during this past season but the program could return in 2019-20. Which players will make up the roster and rotation?

Butler basketball has been one of the most consistent programs in all of college basketball throughout the majority of the 21st century. During this past season, though, the Dawgs faltered down the stretch and wound up falling off of the bubble altogether and making an NIT appearance. It was, on the whole, a disappointing campaign for the program but there is hope moving forward. With much of the same cast returning for this coming season, as well as some vital newcomers joining on, many are expecting that the Bulldogs will be an improved team.

With that said, though, the entire Big East looks poised to take a major leap. The conference, from top to bottom, struggled to live up to normal expectations last season but there is a ton of returning talent for 2019-20. As a result, it seems reasonable to think that every single team in the league has the potential to compete for an NCAA Tournament bid. Obviously, that will not be the end result but sending over half of the conference in the Big Dance is not an unreasonable expectation.

Because of this, there is a long and hard journey ahead if Butler wants to reach the NCAA Tournament. The Dawgs will have to navigate both a perilous non-conference slate and a brutal Big East schedule in order to make that happen. But with a star senior and several experienced supporting cast members, there is potential for this team to vastly exceed expectations.

Now, without any further ado, let’s dive deep into Butler’s 2019-20 roster and projections. What might each player bring to the table, how will the rotation shake out, and what could be the end result of the season?
