Three-star forward Elijah Taylor is reportedly down to a final group of NCAA Basketball teams. Which ones are the best fit for him?

When it comes to NCAA Basketball recruiting, most of the attention tends to focus on the five-star prospects, such as B.J. Boston recently committing to the Kentucky Wildcats. But the heart of most programs are about the recruitment – then development of three-star players. One flying under the radar in the 2020 class in Elijah Taylor, hopes to become a future star at the next level.

Ranked in the top-200 overall, Taylor is a consensus three-star power forward recruit from the Philadelphia area. At 6’8 and around 220 pounds, he’s a physical frontcourt player who uses his left hand primarily. As shown in the above video, he prefers to operate down low with his back to the basket, but impresses many with his great energy and defensive tenacity. He already has the body size to do well at the power forward position in NCAA Basketball coming into his senior year of high school and still has plenty of time to develop his offensive game, including spreading the floor.

Taylor has gotten the attention of many of the top northeast NCAA Basketball programs, including recent national champions and local school Villanova Wildcats. However, they did not make his recent cut to six. The teams involved include, Seton Hall, Florida, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Providence and VCU.

It’s a unique list, with each of them presenting opportunities. But hopefully Taylor makes the right decision, or else he’ll end up as one of many transfers in the portal. Here’s an observation of Taylor’s fit with each of the six.
