NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing 2020 F Greg Brown’s final five
By Brian Rauf
Auburn Tigers
Fresh off the first Final Four berth in school history, Auburn is a program with plenty of momentum under head coach Bruce Pearl. However, after losing Bryce Brown, Jared Harper, and Chuma Okeke to the NBA, the Tigers need to find their next batch of stars.
That is where Brown would come into play. Pearl has done a great job recruiting to his system but now has a roster that lacks a star, a real go-to guy on the offense end. He has the talent to handle that kind of role and would be highest-rated prospect to commit to Auburn in the modern era.
Pearl’s style of play also fits Brown’s game. He’s an elite athlete who excels in transition and when the game is played at a fast pace. If he becomes more consistent with this three-point shot – something Pearl has helped many players develop during his coaching career – Brown will be as deadly of a weapon as Auburn has had.
However, Pearl has to convince Brown that Auburn isn’t a one-hit wonder and that they can continue to compete at an elite level on the national stage. 2019-20 will be the first transition year after the Tigers’ success over the last two seasons. Much of that pitch will likely be done on the court.
