NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top-10 Ziaire Williams final 7 teams
Oregon Ducks
After losing so many players this offseason, head coach Dana Altman scrambled to fill up the roster. He did it with several transfers, including grad transfers Anthony Mathis and Shakur Juiston, as well as sit-out transfers Eric Williams and Eugene Omoruyi from Rutgers. The Williams from Duquesne is a combo forward and would provide backup if the five-star Williams opts for the Ducks.
It’s hard to tell how this makeshift roster will look this upcoming season, let alone for 2020-21. However, there are plenty of opportunities for Williams to come in and be a leading scorer from day one. They could very well be in need of some offense without their point guard leader Payton Pritchard around. Will Richardson is the current projected top ball-handler but don’t be surprised if they push hard for another grad transfer at the PG spot.
Oregon staved off disaster last season to make a Sweet 16 run but this program isn’t at the level where they’ll be vying for Final Four appearances each year. If Williams wants to play for a true title contender in the following season, there are a couple of other options on this that are more viable. But the Ducks haven’t been a recruiting juggernaut until recently after their own Final Four run. Does Altman have another big commitment up his sleeve?
