Keenan Gumbs; Forward  (Liberty)

Club: Kapfenburg (Austria)

Keenan Gumbs spent the first three years of his college career at Division 3 Schreiner University before transferring to Liberty for the 2018-19 season. He was the seventh leading scorer for the Flames, averaging 5.9 ppg.

Don’t let that low number fool you, Keenan Gumbs brought a lot to Liberty and is a great scorer. To a team that was one win away from the NCAA Tournament in 2018, Gumbs added frontcourt depth and a fiery attitude. Liberty was already a good team, but the added fire of Gumbs helped to push them to where they wanted to be in 2019.

In the 2019 Atlantic Sun Championship, Liberty took down Lipscomb to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. In the First Round, they found themselves down by 10 to Mississippi State but came back late to pull off the upset.

Gumbs had 6 points in the win over Mississippi State, but contributed in making good defensive plays and rallying the troops to encourage the comeback. There is much more to playing basketball than scoring points, and Keenan Gumbs is the embodiment of that thought.

Professionally, he will add solid defense, offensive depth, and tenacity to an organization. According to the Liberty Men’s Basketball Twitter, he is now heading to Austria to compete for Kapfenburg.
