2. Chandler Lawson, Oregon PF
The brother of Dedric and KJ Lawson is apart of another stacked recruiting class for Dana Altman. Chandler Lawson is great at help-side defense and has the ability to be an elite shot-blocker, similar to Kenny Wooten. What separates him from Wooten is the fact that he can score and do it on all three levels. He can finish at the rim with his impressive footwork, shoot the mid-range, and extend out to three-point land. If he can add scoring off-the-dribble, Lawson is going to be one of the toughest players in the country to stop on offense.
1. Kofi Cockburn, Illinois C
The Fighting Illini got a scary presence on the block for any opposing team in Kofi Cockburn. He is pretty raw but it helped that he played his final season of high school ball at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia under the legendary coach, Steve Smith. You know, the guy who coached Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo, Stephen Jackson?
I’m sure he learned a thing or two from him. Illinois is looking to get an NCAA Tournament bid for the first time since 2013 and Cockburn is a big reason why it could happen.
