Ohio State basketball has been excellent on the recruiting trail as of late. Which prospects seem to be priorities for head coach Chris Holtmann?

Ohio State basketball head coach Chris Holtmann has been among the most successful leaders in the country over the last few seasons. Since taking over as the leader of the Buckeyes, he has led the program to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and his recruiting successes have been well-documented. After landing the No. 14 overall group in 2019, the coaching staff is already off to a strong start with building connections in the 2020 class. The Buckeyes do not currently have an early commitment from the class but that could change fairly soon.

At this point in time, it seems as though the program is prioritizing plenty of players and they have received some positive feedback as well. As a result, it feels as though Ohio State is in relatively strong shape with 14 of their targets and they will be eager to land some commitments in the coming months. The coaching staff has already secured two strong 2021 players and focusing more on the roster for the 2020-21 season might be the next step. The Buckeyes look poised to be a powerhouse program in the Big Ten for the next several years and that is thanks in large part to the staff’s excellent relationship-building skills.

It doesn’t hurt, though, that Coach Holtmann has already build a superb winning reputation. The young coaching star has reached the NCAA Tournament in his first five seasons as a leader of a Power 6 program (he was at Butler before Ohio State) with 20+ wins in each year. Recruits can pretty much always count on dancing when they commit to play for the Buckeyes under Holtmann.

Now, let’s dive into who Ohio State’s top 2020 priorities seem to be and where the program stands with each.
