Bigs

Doug Wilson (Junior, transferred from Kirkwood Community College)

After winning a national championship and NJCAA DII Player of the year at Kirkwood, Wilson should step straight into a starting role at SDSU. An efficient finisher around the rim who gobbles up rebounds, the biggest question might be if he can protect the paint well enough to be a center full-time in the Summit League, because he seems to lack the shooting (he attempted just one three in two years at Kirkwood) to play as a modern power forward.

Matt Dentlinger (Redshirt Sophomore, 2.8 PPG 2.7 RPG, .04 APG)

Dentlinger has the second-most career starts of any SDSU returner, with a whopping seven last season. However, two of those starts came against some of their stronger opponents in Grand Canyon and Nevada. Dentlinger was the most reliable frontcourt option alongside Daum against bigger lineups, and that likely will remain his primary role. He’ll probably be the starting center the majority of the season but may see his minutes decrease once conference play starts and the Jacks face fewer high impact bigs.

Alou Dillon (Redshirt Sophmore, 1.8 PPG 1.3 RPG, .02 APG)

Dillon saw spot minutes as a backup big last year and put up limited counting stats, but will certainly have a larger role this season. A chiseled 6-8, Dillon will spend time at both the four and the five. With expanded minutes, he’ll likely have a chance to potentially play himself into the starting lineup.
