Daishen Nix is an elite point guard in the 2020 recruiting class. Which NCAA basketball programs are still involved in seeking his commitment?

[UPDATE: Daishen Nix committed to UCLA.]

“List cutting season” in NCAA basketball remains in full force and highly-rated point guard Daishen Nix is the latest to join the fray. Ranked as the No. 14 overall prospect in the country and as the top lead guard, Nix has garnered plenty of recruiting attention over the past year and he is now down to just five schools: Kentucky, UCLA, Maryland, Alabama, and Kansas. This is a strong collection of programs from around the nation and each will clearly be fighting hard to land this commitment. Nix is extremely well-regarded as a prospect and has the potential to be a major difference-maker during what will likely be his only collegiate season.

With regards to his playing style, Nix is a 6-foot-5 lead guard that boasts outstanding court vision and passing creativity. He clearly brings plenty of size to the table and epitomizes being a leader when on the court. He is vocal on both ends and does a superb job making sure that all of his teammates are involved in the offensive. His court vision is perhaps second-to-none in this recruiting class and he is a smooth playmaker with the ball in his hands. On the defensive end of the floor, Nix uses his size and athleticism quite well to lock down opposing guards and he can also defend multiple positions when necessary. The only true weakness in his game is that he still has room to develop with his 3-point shot.

It is no secret that Nix is one of the most highly sought-after players in the 2020 recruiting class and it will be very interesting to see where he ends up. There is no true favorite for the Alaskan native and he is planning to take several official visits in the coming months. Now, without any further introduction, let’s dive into analyzing how he might fit at each of the five schools remaining in his list.
