13) Isaiah Jackson
Position: SF/PF
Height: 6-9
Weight: 190 lbs
High School: SPIRE Academy (Geneva, OH)
Considering: Alabama, Arizona, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State
Scouting Report: Jackson is a raw offensive player and will need to hit the weight room hard before he steps on a college basketball court, but he has that special kind of athleticism that allows him to make a significant impact anyways.
Few players 6-9 or taller move as fast or can jump as high as Jackson does. He’s incredibly fluid and quick, allowing him to be a factor around the rim. Jackson is far too quick to be defended by most players his size and is too tall for most who have the foot speed to match up with him, making him a real matchup nightmare, especially as his skill set continues to improve.
With his high motor, athleticism, and shot-blocking instincts, Jackson would make a significant impact no matter where he went if he suited up for a college team this year. However, he could become a superstar with the right development under the right coach.
Prediction: Michigan State. The Spartans are the current favorites for the Detroit native and I don’t see them relinquishing that anytime soon. They’re a blueblood program that is a favorite for the national championship next season, and they also have some major needs in the frontcourt Jackson would be able to step in and fill. He and Joey Hauser will form a formidable duo at the forward spots.
Tom Izzo has proven time and time again that he knows how to develop players and get his most talented ones to the NBA. There’s just a lot to like about this fit.
