NCAA Basketball stars Ja Morant, Chris Clemons, and Fletcher Magee are gone, so who is in the next crop of mid-major guards to step into the national spotlight?

Ja Morant went from Murray State to No. 2 pick in the NBA draft, Chris Clemons joined the 3,000 point club while playing at Campbell, and at Wofford, Fletcher Magee became the most prolific three-point shooter in the history of the sport. You never can tell where stardom is going to strike in NCAA Basketball, but when it does, more often than not it is a member of the backcourt that finds the spotlight.

Those three guys have moved on, but that doesn’t mean that college basketball will be devoid of players that are ready to step into those vacated spotlights. On the contrary, the mid-major ranks are full of guys who are coming off very successful seasons and return, ready to up their games this season. Being on this list doesn’t necessarily equate to appearances in the NCAA Tournament, but they are players that should be on the radar of fans going into the season.

This list isn’t an all-inclusive one, as there are plenty of good mid-major guards who could qualify, but there are guards on this list that we will be on the lips of pundits heading into March. There may not be any future NBA lottery picks, 3,000-point scorers or NCAA record breakers on this list but for these six players, their time to shine is now and the spotlights are ready for them. Here are six stars of mid-major backcourts who are part of the next wave of players who will become household names and will garner national attention during the 2019-20 season.
