Florida basketball has been one of the nation’s top recruiting programs for the last few years. Who is head coach Mike White targeting in the 2020 class?

You would be hard-pressed to find a more consistently elite program than Florida basketball on the recruiting trail. Over the past 10 seasons, the Gators have averaged the ninth-best recruiting class ranking in the country (26.10), just behind the likes of UCLA, Syracuse and UNC. Even though current head coach Mike White might not have the same national pedigree as his predecessor (Billy Donovan), he has clearly been incredible on the recruiting trail as well. Florida is fresh off landing the No. 8 overall 2019 recruiting class and it will be interesting to see how the coaching staff follows that up.

Heading into this coming year, Florida is widely-regarded as a preseason top-10 team in the country. This is mostly due to their strong returning core and the addition of Kerry Blackshear Jr., but their incoming recruiting class has also made plenty of headlines. The Gators look poised for an outstanding 2019-20 campaign but they will likely wave goodbye to many talents after the season as a result of graduations as well as early entrants to the NBA Draft next summer.

That is what will make the 2020 recruiting class especially important for Florida. The Gators are yet to land a commitment in the 2020 recruiting class but they have made strong impressions on several top-rated players. By landing a few of their top targets, Florida could continue experiencing success on the court as they are on the verge of emerging as a perennial national title contender. Coach White has been phenomenal since taking over in Gainesville and the future looks exceedingly bright.

Now, without any further ado, let’s take a dive into Florida’s top targets in the 2020 recruiting class. This list is not entirely comprehensive of the players they are interested in, but these seem to be the prospects near the top of the program’s priority list right now. Who are these recruits and where do the Gators stand in the recruitments for each? Let’s find out.
