There are some great head coaches working in Big East Basketball, but how do we compare them against each other? Let’s take a look at how the rank for next season.

Seven years ago, Big East Basketball was an entirely different conference. Sure, seven of the ten teams haven’t changed, but conference realignment radically altered this league among others. Butler, Creighton, and Xavier joined the group while the AAC and ACC swallowed up most of the other teams. Even as the teams in this league and the players on them change, one thing that remains constant is the coaching talent in this conference.

While the names have changed, there still remains incredible coaching talent in the Big East. We’re years past seeing John Thompson and Rollie Massimino dueling on the sidelines, but the current group of coaches still packs a punch.

We’re about to do our best to rank all ten coaches in the current Big East. We aren’t ranking these programs based on historical progress or how they’d rank for next year. The focus will be on the coaches themselves, though historical information and summaries will be given for each coach along the way. Someone with very limited head coaching experience is likely to be lower than a more experienced coach, but there are clearly exceptions.

Again, this is a power conference league, and one of the most consistent top-to-bottom last season. The coaches near the bottom of this list would do great work in smaller leagues. There are some fantastic young coaches in the Big East along with a veteran, championship coach at the very top. Let’s start getting into the rankings of these coaches, starting from the bottom.
