Bryce Thompson is one of the top guards in the 2020 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. Which teams are in play to land the five-star playmaker?

When it comes to the top pure scorers in the 2020 recruiting class for NCAA Basketball, Bryce Thompson as emerged as right near the very top. The 6’5 combo guard is coming off an impressive junior season of high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma (20 ppg) before excelling in the AAU circuit this spring.

Thompson put up over 25 ppg while making over 45% from three-point range, solidifying his all-around scoring prowess on offense. Already known as a quality ball-handler who likes to initiate the offense, the high-flyer’s ability to produce at a consistently high rate is why Thompson has been elevated in most recruiting services as a consensus five-star prospect and ranked in the top-20 overall.

With impressive size and desire to be a two-way player, scouts view Thompson as a serious future NBA prospect. If he can be as good a facilitator as a pure scorer, he can impact the NCAA Basketball game right out the gate for whichever program he decides.

Speaking of which, Thompson has recently cut his list of options to a final group of seven. The Tulsa native has both Oklahoma schools in the Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys, along with the Big 12 juggernaut Kansas Jayhawks. Another regional threat to land him is the Texas Longhorns, while national powers Michigan State and North Carolina are also finalists. Arkansas is the last team listed, who has the connections to make a compelling case.

So how does Thompson fit with each potential contender? Here’s a look at all seven programs and what they could look like if the five-star prospect commits to them.
