With the 2019-20 season fastly approaching, how do all the teams for ACC Basketball stand against one another? Here’s our latest Busting Brackets podcast episode discussing the league.

With the calendar turning to the month of September, Busting Brackets has officially turned to a comprehensive preview of the upcoming season. From a podcast perspective, we’ve already done an early look overall of the 2019-20 campaign. But this time, our hosts Connor Hope and Brian Rauf specifically examine ACC Basketball.

Joined by the founder of the appropriately named website “ACC Basketball Report” Mychal Hunter (@ACCBR1), the guys first discuss the reigning national champion Virginia Cavaliers. With so much talent gone from the title team, who are the key players to watch for this upcoming season? And is Tony Bennett’s team still good enough to make the NCAA Tournament?

A trio of teams who are expected to make to Big Dance are Louisville, Duke, and North Carolina, the consensus top teams for ACC Basketball for 2019-20. The guys make their predictions as to who’ll be the most likely to win the league while discussing each of the respective rosters. There won’t be any surprises with those three but which bottom-feeder from last season is most likely to make a jump? You’ll be surprised who Mychal has pegged as a potential top-4 team in the ACC.

From surprises to potential disappointments, which ACC teams aren’t so high on? Connor himself wonders about how much longer a certain Hall of Fame head coach will hang around after a few underwhelming recent seasons. The middle of the conference will be under a microscope, as the strength will be a determining factor as to how many bids they’ll get for the Big Dance.

Depending on who does get in or don’t, some head coaches could be on the line in the offseason. Which ACC coaches are the guys most worried about when it comes to job security and who should be safe? One head coach who is safe of course is Tony Bennett of Virginia. But could he eventually be heading to the NBA? The guys discuss that and other future coaching carousel moves that could impact ACC Basketball in future years.

To round up the conversation, the guys give their early preseason picks for ACC Player of the Year. Who’s most likely to take the top individual award? They then look at some of the under the radar players to keep an eye on.
