Indiana basketball struggled throughout last season and missed the NCAA Tournament. What will it take for the Hoosiers to improve in 2019-20?
Indiana basketball is fresh off one of the most up-and-down seasons in the country. The Hoosiers quickly got off to a fast start last season before becoming marred in a stretch of 12 losses in 13 games. Even though they finished the regular season with four consecutive wins, that was not enough to push the team into the NCAA Tournament. Now, heading into this coming campaign, the Hoosiers will be playing without leading scorers Romeo Langford (NBA Draft) and Juwan Morgan (graduation) while hoping to improve on the court.
Head coach Archie Miller has experienced plenty of success on the recruiting trail since taking over at the program but that is yet to translate to on the court. Even though he is only two years into his tenure with the school, the optimism surrounding the coaching staff is starting to crumble. It is important to mention, though, that Coach Miller missed the Big Dance in his first two years with Dayton as well before making four straight appearances in the following seasons.
Indiana is currently in a stretch of landing just four NCAA Tournament bids in the last 11 seasons and that will need to change in the near future. Looking ahead to this coming season, the Hoosiers look poised to be led by a deep frontcourt and hopefully improved perimeter scoring. There are, though, plenty of concerns considering their struggles last year and offseason losses. Now, without any further ado, let’s dive into some potential keys to success for IU in 2019-20.
