Alabama Crimson Tide
New head coach Nate Oats has a bunch of newcomers from the perimeter for this season, including four-star guards Juwan Gray, Jaylen Forbes and even top-5 class of 2019 JUCO prospect James Rojas. We don’t know how these first-year players will pan out, nor who else will join the Crimson Tide from the 2020 class. They’re in play for top-50 recruits Nimari Burnett and Earl Timberlake as well, which could crowd the backcourt for Scrubb if he joins.
But playing alongside Villanova transfer Jahvon Quinerly and an Oats-coached offense that allows athletic players to shine in a spread-it-out system. Scrubb also gets to play in the SEC against teams such as Kentucky who’ll also have NBA-caliber talent. There are a lot of questions about how Alabama will look for the 2020-21 season in terms of rotations, which may be an issue for a player with a clear plan for himself.
Cincinnati Bearcats
An interesting team from the standpoint that Scrubb would be a great replacement for current senior and reigning AAC Player of the Year Jarron Cumberland. He and several other key seniors will be gone after this upcoming season, leaving doubt as to how good a roster the Bearcats will have for Scrub if he chooses them. Top-50 freshman Zach Harvey should still be around but outside that, there’s not much confirmed talent that would make Cincy a good bet for the NCAA Tournament.
On the bright side, it would provide an opportunity for Scrubb to put up 20+ ppg and be without question the star of the team. But playing for a team in the AAC not name Memphis would be tough when it comes to trying to land the national spotlight. Hard to envision the Bearcats having much of a shot compared to others.
