Overall Thoughts

Alabama has made significant strides in the 2020 recruiting season despite not landing a commitment. Head coach Nate Oats has clearly developed strong relationships with some of the top high school players in the entire nation and there is a reasonable shot at a few commitments. With that said, though, the Crimson Tide are likely the favorite in only one major recruitment right now: Nimari Burnett.

Obviously, Burnett is likely their top target right now as he fits a major positional need for the program and is also the most highly-rated. His commitment seems the most likely out of the seven on this list and he would be an instant starter for the program following the expected departure of Kira Lewis.

Additionally, if Burnett becomes the first 2020 commit for the Crimson Tide, others might be more inclined to take a longer look at playing in Tuscaloosa.

Outside of Burnett, though, it seems as though the Crimson Tide are playing a bit of catch-up. They are a darkhorse behind MSU and UK for Isaiah Jackson and there is still a lot of time left in Josh Hall’s recruitment. It is possible that Alabama is the favorite for Rongie Gordon but he has two official visits scheduled to Florida and Ole Miss in October.

At this point, Burnett is the only recruit that seems to be an Alabama lean. Coach Oats could snag him and a couple more, but I would expect the program to also reach out to more than just Scrubb from the JUCO ranks. This has the makings of a solid, albeit not spectacular, class that will feature a couple of immediate impact players.
