The Southeastern Conference has forever been known as a football conference and for the most part, that is still true. However, in recent years SEC basketball has gotten much better and they’re starting to change that reputation a bit.

Since 2011 the SEC has had seven teams make it to the Final Four, which is tied with the Big Ten for the most out of any conference. That being said there are some big expectations for SEC Basketball heading into the 2019-20 season.

The SEC will be attempting to have a team in the Final Four for the second consecutive season and will also be hoping for their first National Champion since Kentucky won it all in 2012. The question is, who will that team be?

During the 2018-19 season we saw several SEC teams have huge seasons, Auburn won the SEC Tournament and proceeded to make the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament, Tennessee was the number one team in the country for several weeks, LSU was impressive (when they weren’t getting investigated by the FBI) and several other teams as well.

Not only that, but the SEC also has five of the top-25 recruiting classes from the Class of 2019. Kentucky comes in at number two, Florida at eight, Georgia at ten, Auburn at 20 and Alabama at 21.

This being said, things are looking up for the SEC heading into the new year and if things go well, this could be the best year the conference has had since 2012. The question is which teams are in the best position to get to the top of that mountain?

Let’s take a look at which SEC teams are in the best position to make a run through the 2019-20 season.
