Henry Baddley has been a solid role player for Butler basketball over the past few seasons. How will the senior make an impact during the 2019-20 season?

Henry Baddley is now entering his senior season with Butler basketball. Although he has never been a star for the team, the 6-foot-4 wing has received his fair share of playing time over the years. Over the past two seasons, Baddley has seen a consistent role in the rotation and turned that into averages of 4.2 points (.465/.363/.811) and 2.1 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game. These numbers are far from spectacular but he has functioned in his role quite nicely.

Heading into this coming campaign, it is reasonable to expect that Baddley will reprise a similar reserve role. There will be plenty of competition for bench minutes on the wing this year, though, so Baddley will have to perform well in order to see an increase in playing time. Nonetheless, he is a solid “glue guy” in the second unit and saw the occasional spot start last season. Baddley is a long athlete, solid defender, and has proven to be a somewhat reliable shooter from beyond the arc, albeit on low volume.

It is unlikely that Baddley will see a starring role this season but he needs to be effective in his minutes. As evidenced by the fact that Butler ranked in the upper half of the country in bench minutes last season (31.5%), head coach LaVall Jordan trusts his reserves. Baddley will need to repay that with strong performances.
