There are lots of expectations for Dayton Basketball this upcoming season. Are the Flyers good enough overall to win the A-10?

Dayton Basketball is looking to improve after a 21-win season that saw them get bounced in the first round of the NIT. Head Coach Anthony Grant enters his third season in charge of the program and looks primed to take his team to their first tournament appearance under his leadership. The big story for Dayton this offseason was star player Obi Toppin returning for the Flyers, the value that Toppin brings to this program this season can not be measured. The extremely talented sophomore tested the draft waters before deciding to return to school, something I’m sure the rest of the A-10 was disappointed to hear.

Depth is going to be a big factor for Dayton this season, they can comfortably play a nine or ten-man rotation, something they definitely haven’t been able to do the past few years. A large reason for the sudden influx of depth would be the transfers. Dayton will see four transfers become eligible this season highlighted by Michigan transfer Ibi Watson. Nebraska transfer Jordan Tshimanga Florida transfer Chase Johnson, and Chattanooga transfer Rodney Chatman, all players who will make a big impact for the Flyers this year.

For the Dayton season preview, I’m going to breakdown who I think will start for the Flyers, some of the key guys that will make up the rest of that rotation. Take a look at some of the big nonconference games, give a layout of the conference and finally wrap up some thoughts about what kind of outlook the Flyers should have for this upcoming season.
